The Illawarra Legal Centre is a member of the National Association of Community Legal Centres (NACLC) and is based in Warrawong, a southern suburb of Wollongong, NSW.

The Illawarra Legal Centre (ILC) is an independent community legal centre funded by Government to provide a comprehensive range of free legal services to residents of the Illawarra who experience social and economic disadvantage. The Centre has a strong human rights and social justice focus.  We are currrently seeking to fill the following positions: 

alt Reception/ Administration Officer

Part Time - 2 days per week (Monday & Friday), 9am - 5pm (14 hrs)

We are seeking a well-organised and experienced individual for this pivotal front line role in our service. This is a general administration position and includes reception, data entry, appointment bookings, administrative support and other duties for a small legal and related services team.

Wage is starts at the SACS Award Grade 3 Year 1 depending on skills and experience.  Fringe benefit packaging is available.

alt Community Legal Education Worker

Part Time - 14hrs per week

We are seeking a Community Legal Education Worker to work with ILC caseworkers to coordinate, develop, deliver and evaluate a community legal education program. The aim is to ensure the dissemination of legal information to a diverse community.

The position offers the opportunity of working with a committed multi-disciplinary team on a diverse range of social justice and legal issues.

Salary begins at SACS Award Grade 4 Year 1 + 5% (pro rata) depending on qualifications and experience.

The Illawarra Legal Centre is run by a volunteer management committee.  If you are interested in being part of the management committee please contact Truda Gray the Centre Coordinator on 4279 1939.


alt Volunteer Solicitor

Once a week, volunteer solicitors staff an evening advice session.  At present solicitors are rostered on approximately 3 to 4 times a year.  If you are interested in being part of the volunteer team, please contact the Principal Solicitor Phillip Dicalfas on 4276 1939.



From time to time we have other volunteers undertaking projects or activities.  Volunteers will not replace paid staff members and the Centre acknowledges its obligation to seek funding to pay for work which is normally undertaken by paid staff. Students are encouraged to apply.

The work given to volunteers will offer the volunteer personal satisfaction, potential development of skills, active promotion of a cause and/or recognition of volunteer effort.
